Erick Garza
Bio: Erick is a 2020 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania. He was raised in Mexico, but he moved to Pharr, Texas at an early age. He attended PSJA North Early College High School where he competed in Science UIL, participated in the PSJA North orchestra, and ran Cross Country and Track. During his junior year of high school, he participated in the Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA) program at Princeton University where he learned leadership skills and met other high achieving high school students from low socioeconomic backgrounds from across the country. In his senior year, he received the Gates Millennium Scholarship and volunteered as a CSLAP mentor during the 2016 summer institute. Erick also took advantage of PSJA’s dual enrollment program with South Texas College and graduated with an Associate’s degree in Physics. At the University of Pennsylvania, Erick majored with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in Chemistry and Latin American studies. Currently he is studying medicine in New York City at Columbia Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
