CSLAP-Ruiz Erectors 2021
Abraham Galindo
This internship experience was my first experience involving the field I’m currently studying in. I felt that it reinforced my idea that this is what I want to do in the future. I loved being a part of the team, and never felt the reluctance to head to work. I really enjoyed how everything felt in the closely knit environment that was held at our office.
We conducted a chicken plate fundraiser where we raised $713 in funds for high school seniors pursuing higher education. My role in this fundraiser was to maintain a timeline and make sure that the project stayed up to date and on time. We dealt with a few setbacks, including the chicken shortage currently plaguing the country, but this experience boosted my confidence not only as a leader, but also as a team member.
Our boss, Martin Ruiz, served as our mentor throughout the internship, providing guidance when we were stuck on a certain hurdle. Nearing 3 years of running Ruiz Erectors LLC, Martin has a vast amount of knowledge on the industry surrounding my home town, which he didn’t hesitate to share with our team. Through him, we were able to take a look into the market and learn about marketing, prices, finances, and dealing with clients. I felt that the hands off nature of the internship really solidified the above mentioned characteristics
I pulled from this experience.
